New Couch to 5K Program!

Couch to 5K
Every Thursday at Harmon Field starting October 3, 2013
6PM
The entire community is invited to join us

Holy Cross Church and the Tryon Running Club will be co-hosting a Couch to 5K program every Thursday starting October 3 at 6 PM at Harmon Field. A Couch To 5K program is designed to get some one ready to run a 5K race who is currently a non runner. However, everyone is welcome to attend even if your goal is just to get moving again or if you are currently training for something and just want to join us to have some fun.

Experienced runners from the Tryon Running Club will be on hand with advice, coaching and encouragement. Over time instruction in stretching, nutrition and other related subjects will be available.

In part the help is being offered to get people ready for Holy Cross Church's Race To The Head Of The Class to be held December 14, 2013. There will be a 5K and 10K run plus a 1k fun run/walk. Funds raised from the race all go to the Holy Cross Scholarship fund, which benefits all students in the community - not just those who attend Holy Cross Church.

The scholarship fund was created by an endowment back in the 1960s to for students in the communities surrounding Tryon and Landrum. This year Holy Cross gave out $21,000 in scholarships and that is a typical average for most years.

For more information please contact Holy Cross Episcopal Church in Tryon. (828) 859-9741 www.holycrosstryon.org or The Tryon Running Club www.tryonrunningclub.com

Come join everyone for an evening of fitness, fun and fellowship!
