Tryon Half Marathon

RACE DATE:  Saturday November 15th, 2014

The Tryon Half Marathon is the perfect course for first-timers and those who appreciate a softer surface without going fully "trail!"

It will be hard to find a flatter, more scenic mountain course than this one. Fall temperatures and a mostly packed dirt/gravel course that meanders along a riverside through Tryon's famous "horse country" are all that is needed to make this an unbelievable 13.1 experience.

The Course

The out-and-back course will begin on Harmon Field Rd. making a left onto Hwy 108 and right onto Clarence Rhodes Road, then to Scriven Road, and down River Road and there will be a turnaround to follow the course back to 108. The course will go back LEFT onto Hwy 108 then right onto Howard Gap and enter Harmon Field via the "tomato fields" trail (Cane Brake) on the left to finish at the track. Course is 25% pavement and 75% packed dirt/gravel.

We are removing the "medium hill" and participants will enjoy a flat, downhill, then flat finish at scenic Harmon Field!

Please see the Course Map here. Please note the course is not certified.

    1. Yes, there will be a couple along the way. It is an out and back course so you will get them coming and going. I will figure out where along the course they will be and post the miles. Thanks for asking.

    2. The porta-a-potty will be located on River Rd at a point where it is at mile 5 on the way out and mile 8 on the way back.

  5. Hi Ale, thanks for registering. In Columbus, NC there is a Days Inn... other than that not many places to stay.
Take I-85 N to I-26 W towards Asheville. Take Columbus exit 67 (Hwy108) towards Tryon. I about 2.5 miles the road will split - stay right onto Harmon Field Rd.
The address is 272 Harmon Field Rd. Tryon, NC Google Maps takes you right to it.

  6. I didn't notice that I needed to press a separate button to get an email confirmation sent to me and also was not at a computer where I could print off the confirmation as the directions requested us to do. Is there a way that I could get access to the account at work tomorrow where I'll have access to a printer? Just a little unnerved not to have either...
